Ural Championship. VI BBQ Festival in Ekaterinburg.


Traditional BBQ Championships this year gathered 72 teams of applicants from 8 cities. Festival participants competed in three categories - "pro", "juniors" (students of culinary schools) and "amateurs".

The jury this year included leading Russian chefs, specializing in dishes of meat - Kirill Martynenko (Managing Partner and brand-chef of chain restaurants Torro Grill) and Sergey Galistin (brand-chef of "Voentorg"), experts of Russian gastronomic industry - Igor Bukharov ( President of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia) and Leonid Gelibterman (President of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy), as well as professional chefs of the Sverdlovsk region.

Leonid Gelibterman shared his impressions about the Championships: "I was very pleased with the activity of competitors and their enthusiasm for their work. During the judging of contest dishes made by professional chefs, I (for the first time in my experience), faced with the fact that all judges without agreement and absolutely unanimously awarded first, second and third prizes. This is a very rare case, because each judge gave marks individually and without any discussions. I also want to pay your attention to the level of amateur teams, it was high. Many dishes that they offered to the judges were at the professional level and even sometimes more interesting than the dishes made by professionals. Juniors were also good – great generation is coming! "
