«Football menu» of the restaurants and cafes in Kaliningrad region

From 26 to 28th of May, on the initiative of the Minister of culture and tourism of the Kaliningrad region Andrey Ermak, a group of Moscow experts with Leonid Gelibterman, was invited to evaluate the «football menu» of restaurants and cafes in Kaliningrad, Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk.

The jury was proposed to visit 20 public catering establishments of the Kaliningrad region and to determine their readiness for the FIFA World Cup 2018. In the course of their work, the experts tried not only to verdict a particular restaurant or cafe, but also to give valuable advice for further work. «Learn how to cook your products and give the opportunity to explore their to your guests, — the Vice-President of Federation of Restaurants and Hoteliers of the Russian Federation Leonid Gelibterman advised, — none of the visited venues emphasized the regional component. But you are big fellows that went into this project — time was not enough to prepare fully, but many of you already at this stage demonstrated a creative approach».

All the experts noted the most complete compliance with the objectives, that were set during the competition, in the «football menu» of the beer restaurant «Tyrol», which included the favorite dishes of world-class players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. So the restaurant «Tyrol» became the winner of the competition. The experts also appreciated the cuisines of the organizations «Baklaghan», «Myasorubka», «Street chef cafe», «Harry Johnson bar» and several others.

Minister Andriy Yermak, in turn, noted that this competition is just one of the steps in the region’s preparation to the FIFA World Cup 2018 and encouraged other representatives of the restaurant business in Kaliningrad region to join to this project. He did not exclude the possibility of a new gastronimic competitions of its kind in the region.
