Between 07 and 09 July, a large-scale international forum-festival "Gastronomic routes of the Great Silk Road" was held in Astrakhan with the support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm). The co-organizer of the forum was the International Center of Wine and gastronomy.
Greetings to the forum participants were sent by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky and the head of Rosturism Oleg Safonov.
Representatives of other Russian regions - the Volgograd Region, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Ingushetia, the Republic of Kalmykia, the Krasnodar Territory, the Lipetsk Region, the Chechen Republic, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, as well as guests from Armenia, Greece, Israel, Indonesia, Iran, Spain, Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan.
President of the ICWAG, member of the UNWTO Silk Road Working Group Leonid Gelibterman held a round table on how to increase the tourist attractiveness of the regions with the help of regional products and beverages.
A number of important documents were signed within the framework of the forum-festival, including the entry of the Astrakhan region into the UNWTO working group on the Western section of the Silk Road, an agreement between the government of the Astrakhan region and the ICWAG, an agreement on cooperation between the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia and a travel company "Intourist".
