The Forum was attended by representatives of state and municipal organizations, public associations, business, educational institutions, expert community and journalists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Gorno-Altaysk, Kaliningrad, Makhachkala, Novosibirsk, Pskov and a number of other Russian regions, as well as from Belarus, China, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Portugal and Thailand.
Gastronomic Forum started with a welcome speech of the Acting Governor of the Kaliningrad region Alexander Alikhanov, with the official video message addressed to the participants by the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai, and with congratulations to the audience with the opening of the Forum by Andrey Klemeshev, Rector of Baltic Federal University of Immanuel Kant.
The business program was attended by prominent Russian and foreign experts, including the President of the Portuguese Association for Culinary Tourism and Economy Jose Borralho, Professor of the faculty of Tourism and Gastronomy of the University of Anáhuac (Mexico) Marisa Ramos Abascal, Professor of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Doctor Wantanee Suntikul, founder of the Dingle Cookery School (Ireland) Mark Murphy, President of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia Igor Bukharov, manager of Kaziukas fair in Vilnus Vytenis Urba (Lithuania). President of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy (Moscow), Leonid Gelibterman, moderated the Forum.
During the open dialogue Russian and foreign participants exchanged their professional experience in the development of the Street food movement as an important trend of modern gastronomy tourism, and in frames of the round table the possibility of creation of the Institute of regional products in Russia to enhance attractiveness of the regions both for domestic and inbound tourism was discussed.
The participants of the Forum-festival got the opportunity to get acquainted with the objects of gastronomy tourism of the Kaliningrad region, and on 30-31 August in the Kaliningrad restaurant «Tyrol» the gastronomic gourmet dinners in the performance of chefs from Kaliningrad, Moscow, Ireland and Greece took place.
The Kaliningrad Street Food Weekend, held from 01 to 03 September on the Island of Kant, was attended by about 60 street food projects from several Russian regions, Belarus, Lithuania and Poland. With master classes for guests of the Festival the specialists from Russia, Greece, Ireland, Mexico and Thailand performed. Within the framework of the Street Food Festival a competition of Russian Street Food Awards (the Russian selection stage of the European Street Food Awards) was held. The project «Bykov Bar» from Kaliningrad became a winner of the prestigious competition with pickled Murmansk codfish and baked potatoes. The project received the honorable right to represent Russia at the European Street Food Awards which will take place on 30 September and 01 October this year in Berlin.
The participants of the Forum-festival unanimously agreed on the necessity for regular holding of such events, and also confirmed that Kaliningrad has all bases to apply for receiving the honorary title «The capital of the Russian Street food».
