International conference on wine and food tourism at the «Leisure-2017» exhibition

On the 20th of September in the framework of the International forum-exhibition «Leisure-2017» the 2nd International conference on wine and food tourism «Travel with taste» was held under the moderating by Leonid Gelibterman.

The President of the ICWAG, in his speech, presented a report on the topic «Gastronomy tourism. Global trends and Russian realities», introducing the audience with the current situation of the development of gastrotourism as a significant touristic segment in Russia and in foreign countries. Leonid Gelibterman stressed the important role of local products in the formation of regional gastronomic routes and brought global statistics, confirming the key importance of regional food in branding of the territory.

Among the speakers of the conference and a panel discussion on regional strategies for the development of gastronomy tourism in Russia were the professionals in the hospitality industry and tourism business, including Advisor to the Federal Agency for Tourism Andrey Monakov, Acting Minister for Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region Andrey Ermak, the chief editor of the project «Zhivaya Karta (Living Map)» Oleg Alekseev and the General Director of the «Volga-Tour» company Yulia Skorokhodova.

The experts discussed a number of important issues of the establishment of a modern gastronomy tourism and shared their practical experience of creating the effective methods for its development, both in domestic and in international practice.

International forum-exhibition for tourism «Leisure-2017» was held from 19 to 21 September in the exhibition complex «Expocentre» with the support of Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism).
