In early March 2019, Leonid Gelibterman, at the invitation of the Greek Taste Beyond Borders (GTBB), visited Athens to participate in a business forum dedicated to the role of gastronomy culture in the world.
On March 4, the 2nd International Business Networking Forum "Global Taste 2019" and the ceremony of national awarding of the best enterprises of the Greek hospitality industry took place in the capital of Greece. The President of the ICWAG, who was awarded the honorary title of "Ambassador of Taste" at the I International Hellenic Gastronomic Conference in 2018, took an active part in the second GTBB forum.
The Forum was opened with a solemn awarding ceremony of the best Greek hotels and catering establishments representing various formats. The best chefs of Greece were awarded honorable marks of distinction, and Leonid Gelibterman was honored to hand out awards for the best of the best ones on the stage of the Athens Megaron Concert Hall.
The Forum programme continued with expert discussion of the initiative of the Greek Taste Beyond Borders on the establishment of the "Global Taste" association, which members will be the Ambassadors of global gastronomy from different countries of the world. Authoritative experts from Canada, China, Cyprus, Greece, Iran, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and other countries discussed a possible strategy and practical steps for the development of the Global Taste project.
Leonid Gelibterman became the honorary speaker of the Forum, presenting the results of the Russian Gastronomy Week 2018 in Greece, as well as other projects dedicated to the Russian-Greek cooperation in the field of gastronomy tourism. In recognition of the merits of the President of the ICWAG for the development of international projects in the gastronomy field, Leonid Gelibterman was awarded the honorary title and gold medal "Ambassador of Taste for the Global Gastronomy" ®, as well as the "Golden spiral Greek Taste Beyond Borders" — a symbol confirming the high quality of work on the development of cultural and gastronomic traditions of the country at the international level.
During his short and eventful visit to Athens, Leonid Gelibterman held a number of meetings with the heads of major professional associations and representatives of the business community from around the world, discussed the prospects for the development of the Global Taste international project and planned events with the participation of Ambassadors of global gastronomy for 2019 and 2020.
